A weekend to recover from.

June 20, 2011 , , , ,

This kind of sums up the weekend.

It’s weekends like this one that I’ll remember forever. It really was fantastic from start to finish, filled with wonderful people, extraordinary food, good (albeit at times inappropriate) conversation and delicious, delicious whiskey.

Something took over me and I actually did everything and more than I had planned. I went from Beer Parc to Wolgangs Steakhouse on Friday. Saturday was filled with Coney Island and the Mermaid Parade, Edible’s Festival of 7 Ingredients, cocktails at Noho Star and a lovely time with L and SSB “Steven Sloan on the beat” at Sofia’s Wine Bar and then Me Bar. Sunday delighted me with a Stumptown Coffee and brunch at the Breslin with SSB.

And because of late, since I like to see things out to the end (so unlike me!), I ended the weekend perfectly last night at M’s with S and burgers on the grill -Six Point in our hands. While we mumbled over our cans – the sun set, the blue sky pulsed into night, reflecting off the residual glitter on M and S and another summer weekend faded as our jumbled memories worked to sort themselves out.

We had a simple meal. Herbed mixed potatoes with blue cheese, grilled asparagus drizzled with olive oil, and plain roasted red peppers. I steamed some Cod in foil with a mix of basil, lemon balm and rosemary. M and S had sliders with Vermont potato buns. We topped off the evening with two episodes of Nurse Jackie.

The Mermaid Parade was a great highlight. I had a great time chatting with G and drinking beer perched on a curb while the other rode the rides. The day was perfect, not too hot with a light breeze. I’m looking forward to the free Friday night fireworks that are starting up soon.

Here’s some great photos via Jeff Hirsch from the Parade. Tomorrow we’ll be chatting about some must visit restaurants featured at the Edible Festival of 7 Ingredients.
